Quality Manager

We are searching for a Quality Manager to lead and improve all aspects of this Wood Cabinet Plant's Manufacturing and Product Quality Programs including Supplier Quality. As a member of the Plant leadership team, you will have the opportunity to lead the quality programs in their plant and establish new zeal in the development and implementation of LEAN manufacturing principles.
We are seeking a person who easily relates to employees at any work station through coaching and is capable of influencing the emergence of a work culture committed to quality. This is a hands-on position with the expectation of thorough knowledge of the production operations and the plant personnel gained through constant interaction on the plant floor and team based problem solving as issues arise.
1. Will report to the Plant Manager and reporting to the Quality Manager, are 3 salaried personnel (Plant Engineer, Process Improvement Engineer and Quality Clerk) and 9 hourly QC personnel.
2. Directing the quality management system for tracking defects and the ensuing root cause diagnostics for remedying scrap
3. Aligning manufacturing processes for production personnel and supervisors that creates an environment committed to quality
4. Implementing processes that ensure that raw materials, component parts, product structures and finished products are consistently manufactured, packaged and delivered to customers at specification standards.
5. This position interacts heavily with production personnel responsible for both component quality and finished product quality, though quality is a plant wide mandate with all production personnel accountable for improvements. |
Qualifications |
Required Qualifications:
1. BS/BA degree in quality engineering, or equivalent work experience.
2. 8 to 10 years of manufacturing supervision experience, with at least 5 years solely focused on quality programs and systems.
3. Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing protocols, Six Sigma methodologies, TQM, process improvement logic is assumed as this position serves as the subject matter expert for quality in the plant.
4. Ability to learn to use color metering / measuring equipment such as X-Rite to measure, track, identify and remediate product variations is expected * Expert level skill in SPC methodologies.
5. Experience working within a high performance team environment with strong leadership and influencing capabilities.
Desired Qualifications:
1. Work experience in wood cabinet manufacturing or in a comparable finished wood product manufacturing process would be a real asset.
2. Six Sigma Black Belt Certification a plus.
