JOB OVERVIEW:
Seeking a candidate with a background in highly customized & low volume production in furniture or millwork industry that is a hand’s on leader that has demonstrated results in implementing lean and fostering an environment of continuous improvement. This role is responsible for the creation, implementation, and leadership of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement program within the organization. Prioritize and coordinate all opportunities on a company-wide basis. This position will report to the President and will get to operate as part of a dynamic and hands-on management team that is committed to delivering results while striking a balance in quality, cost, schedule and quality of life.
DUTIES:
* Candidate will be responsible to promote, educate, and instill a culture of waste identification and elimination throughout the manufacturing organization by utilizing lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement principles.
* Implement focused improvement initiatives and related metrics & improve production output
* Work with associates at all levels to identify areas of waste and variation to help target 0and prioritize projects that will reduce operating costs.
* Train and mentor cross-functional teams in Lean and Six Sigma tools, techniques, and methodologies.
* Manage direct reports to drive the critical components of the strategic plan.
* Measure CI activity within the plant against business plan objectives and report performance on a weekly/monthly basis.
* Create work instructions to standardize work processes, reduce cycle time, and eliminate waste.
* Analyze material flow throughout plant and identify opportunities to improve flow and leverage floor space utilization.
* Understand the product variations and identify and recommend opportunities for standardization in both design and construction methods
* Establish and monitor the CTQ’s for products and follow up on Installation at customer sites |
Qualifications |
REQUIREMENTS:
* Self starter with hands-on approach to engagement
* Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate team building
* Ability to recognize when you should behave as a Team Leader or Team member based upon the situation
* Excellent listener & change agent
* Exceptional follow through on initiatives and commitments
* Significant Lean Manufacturing experience including the ability to understand and implement innovative solutions improving process flow, reduce base and variable costs in a low volume, high mix environment.
* Used Value Stream Mapping to identify current state of material flow and use Lean tools to find optimized future state map.
* Ability to lead cross-functional team and achieve successful results
* Constraint Management, 5S, VFM (Visual Factory Management), and Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5 Why’s)
* AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, Process Mapping Software
* Excellent communication skills, personality, and ability to work with others within and outside the company
* A strong desire to grow with the company and be a part of cohesive team |
