DIRECTOR OF eCOMMERCE SITE MERCHANDISING
Pennsylvania
Midpoint salary = 132k + 20-30% Bonus and Stock options.
Principal Accountabilities
1. 30% - Overall management of website. Develop and manage all site content, functionality, and re-launches/enhancements. Manage relationship with outside creative development and hosting agency (GSI Commerce). Determine strategy and oversee execution of all initiatives; prioritize and manage projects to timelines, budget, and resources. Work closely with web agency, and internal teams to develop new site functionality, troubleshoot site issues, and determine appropriate resolution. Enhance website with new ideas/pages/modules to meet business goals, or solve uncovered usability issues Oversee both search engine optimization and on-site search optimization. Develop content , pathing, and taxonomy modifications to improve site conversion
2. 20% - Oversee strategy, creative direction, timing, and execution of online, and mobile programs, as well as new initiatives (home page creative, concept shops and branding initiatives, gifting , widgets, credit card / gift card integration , etc.). Ensure alignment and synergies across all programs. Ensure all initiatives are delivered on time and within budget.
o Work with the merchants and other stakeholders to develop business case for web enhancements and lead the creation of project design briefs that translate into business and functional requirements.
3. 20% - Manage site planning and analysis for company Develop reporting and review site performance, sales, conversion and ROI. Develop recommendations for future site enhancements and revisions. .
4. 10% - Provide strategic direction and manage development of company-wide online projects and promotional campaigns (Holiday / Catalog / Microsites and Brand Shop development), new product launches, through site merchandising support other Marketing initiatives. Determine requirements and manage implementation and execution where necessary, acting as liaison between DSG teams and GSI. Provide post-event analysis and recommendations.
5. 10% - Provide business intelligence and performance analytics. Using Omniture Netacumen tools report on site KPI's and user trends and determine implications for future planning; present to senior management on a weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis. Oversee usability studies, and site audits. Develop satisfaction insight reviews (with support from external vendor i.e. Foresee) to improve customer experience and increase conversion.
6. 5% - Overall management of site budgets (Creative / Image / Copy).
7. 5% - Manage and develop 3rd party vendor and partner relationships: Continually evaluate partner performance. ( GSI Commerce, Power reviews, Omniture, etc) Work with to review existing agreements, identify opportunities and efficiencies, and engage in RFP process when necessary. |
Qualifications |
Job Complexity
• Ability to prioritize all work being done by outside web agency in order to complete initiatives in a timely manner and within budgeted hours and $$. Must be conversant in website technology in order to determine if the amount of resources allotted to each project is reasonable. Must be able to troubleshoot when site issues occur and then be able to determine the best course of action for resolution. Must be able to gain respect of Customer Service, IT, 3rd party fulfillment partner, and web creative agency in order to take the lead on diagnosing any issues and gaining consensus quickly on an action plan.
• Ensures that all site content (product and marketing) is merchandised for greatest impact and visitor conversion.
• Ability to gather information on website trends (benchmark against other websites) as well as determine what new technologies they may want to implement. Must be able to lead cross-functional team (IT, Customer Service, Operations and outside firms / partners) to make sure all issues are thoroughly examined to understand the impact on consumer satisfaction, site stability, fulfillment process etc before changes are made.
• Ability to execute a marketing strategy on line that supports all online and multi-channel activities, especially through email marketing program. ( landing page optimization and conversion analysis) Must be able to influence creative direction by considering at past campaign performance and communication objective.
• Supervises a staff of merchandisers, copy writers, image and sample coordinators.

Minimum education required: BA or BS degree
Education desired: BA or BS degree or MBA
Years of relevant experience: 8-10 years, 8 years E-Commerce
