Director of Project Management & Engineering Midwest Salary: 90- 135K Benefits, Vacation, Paid medical, dental, 401K, vacation, PTO, and Flexible Spending Program. Seeking a candidate with a background in highly customized millwork industry that is a hand’s on leader that has demonstrated results in project management, effective leadership, as well as in depth knowledge and understanding of the engineering process necessary to drive manufacturing. One of the nation\'s premier manufacturers of custom architectural millwork for the world\'s most exclusive, luxurious living spaces and motor yachts. With over 37 years experience in the industry, we have grown to over 115 associates and have redefined the baseline for which millwork manufacturers are measured. This role is responsible for managing, directing, and controlling all activities from bid hand off from Sales to final field punch out. Typical project duration is 12-18 months. You are responsible to ensure that all deliverables, documentation, and buyouts are adhered to and delivered under budget. This position will report to the President. You will operate as part of a dynamic and hands-on management team that is committed to delivering results while striking a balance in quality, cost, schedule and quality of life. DUTIES: Develop and implement succession planning initiatives for key positions in the Project. Management, Engineering and Field Group. Ensure effective customer service and relations through timely on-time delivery and installation of quality products. Minimize rework through analysis and communication of field issues back to manufacturing. Direct Engineering, Project Management, Installation, and touch-up to ensure cost effectiveness and consistency with quality, accuracy and performance standards. Implement focused improvement initiatives and related metrics & improve production output. Train and mentor cross-functional teams. Manage direct reports to drive the critical components of the strategic plan. Understand the product variations and identify and recommend opportunities for standardization in both design and construction methods. Establish and monitor the CTQ’s for products and follow up on Installation at customer sites. Responsible for the daily management of Project Management, Engineering, and Field Operations.
Qualifications
Requirements: 4 Year Degree Preferred 7-10 years plus experience Develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of projects and dynamics. Support Project Managers to create thorough “Project\" schedules. Full oversight and accountability for all project changes as they relate to cost and time line. Full oversight and responsibility for budgets and profitability of projects managed. Full responsibility to proactively engage other sub trades, design clients and build clients to quickly and efficiently attain open information, coordination and adherence to schedule. Full oversight and responsibility to ensure timely communication to procurement for the sourcing of special materials and products in a timely and cost effective method. Management and understanding as well as the execution of “for approval\" drawings for all projects. Responsible to assist in the development and adherence to project schedules. Where applicable, recommend changes throughout life of project schedule. Assist in management of the project team and coordination of Project Work Orders. Maintain pulse of all projects from project kick-off to close out. Drive accountability within the group of 25 associates. Ensure the integrity of the approval drawings and their need to be “error free.\" Management and reporting of the Project Team Schedule. Identification and monitoring of risk factors for all projects. Review and approval of monthly job costs by project as provided by project Team. Develop overall knowledge and understanding of all project scopes. Establishes the vision and process control for material specifications and finish for samples/mock-ups by projects. Performance management and evaluation of Project Management teams (individually and collectively) with the Project Principles. At the end of each project coordinate and facilitate with Project team a “Post Mortem” on each project, led by Project Manager and Project Principle. At least 10 years of successful leadership and management. Strong, hands-on, working knowledge of Microsoft Projects, Microsoft Excel. Ability to use and manipulate data in Microsoft Access.
