Environmental Engineer Company: Chemicals Location: TX Salary: $80K - $100K Degree: 4 year technical degree, BSCHE is best Summary of Position: Coordinate and evaluate environmental activities throughout the plant to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State and Local environmental regulations, serving as liaison between the plant and regulatory authorities, private citizens, and other environmental groups as necessary. Major Activities and Principal Responsibilities: • Initiate/manage environmentally related projects and tasks. • Work with Company environmental and legal groups to evaluate impact of current and proposed regulations. • Interface with appropriate regulatory agencies and legal counsel on routine and non-routine matters. • Learn and use risk reduction rules in product analysis, environmental issues, and remediation situations to meet business needs. • Act as a liaison between plant and outside agencies. • Coordinate waste disposal. • Initiate, prepare and submit necessary permit applications or amendments. • Audit plant and contractors activities • Complete all necessary reporting requirements associated with plant emergency response. • Coordinate gathering/generation of environmental release data for appropriate reports. • Actively participate in the required environmental training of plant employees.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Bacholer of Science in Science/Engineering • Three plus years process/operational experience in organic chemical industry, oil refining, and/or pollution waste disposal facilities. • Certification or interest in seeking certification as a Six Sigma Black/Green Belt. • Effective oral and written communications skills. • History of positive results. • Demonstrated ability to create schedules and budgets and lead projects to completion. .
