Description
Quality Manager Michigan (They prefer local candidates) Salary range of $85 – 100,000 Major Responsibilities Lead efforts in achieving, maintaining and using externally certified business processes like ISO9000/ 14000RC and other specific business/ industry standards. Partner with site management in managing site quality operations as virtual continuous improvement teams. Maintain strong matrix reporting with site operations. Maintain system of BOS & SPC metrics that reflect status and are tied to, budgets, goals, and standards. Follow the standard business systems to communication process capability, New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts and customer satisfaction Provide support and leadership for the continued enhancement of the Six-sigma effectiveness and expanded use of Lean manufacturing. Use quality tools to enhance problem solving and improvement activities and employee involvement. - Use and promote performance tools like Value Stream Mapping, Six sigma, Lean Manufacturing Techniques, Kaizen, Root Cause/ Corrective Action techniques, BOS, and 5S, - Manage priorities of key resources like to address system and quality issues Take leadership role in resolution of customer quality/ satisfaction issues and the implementation of permanent improvements. Use and participate in the processes to support the businesses NPI activities in establishing product/ process capabilities, product specifications and appropriate quality system to support manufacture. Establish high standards for site testing lab and optimize data management.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience Experience in managing quality & manufacturing operations (production, technology and quality) with increasing responsibility/ roles in environments of change. Recognized expertise in elements of continuous improvement and demonstrated success in leading significant change through an organization. Demonstrated Quality system leadership is required Technical degree with training in lean, six sigma and/ or business processes. Commercial/ customer experience with successful responsibility for key initiative. Experience with six sigma, lean manufacturing, and problem solving techniques, employee based decision processes, change management and integrated data / metric systems. Success working in a matrix organization in a chemical business and demonstrated success in developing, implementing and leading use of best practice work processes NOTES: Will have responsibility for the West Michigan site (under 75 employees) and the plant on the East Coast which has between 100 – 150 employees. Both sites are union, so they want a strong leader who will stand up for issues/problems. They will have Lab Supervisors, and Lab Technicians reporting to them. Travel to East Coast will be about 20 – 25%. They would like someone strong in ISO. Someone with aerospace quality experience (AS9100) would be a real plus. Both plants have good systems in place, so it will be following current protocol. Any lean experience would be a plus too.
