Quality Manager Company: Specialty Chemicals Location: TX Salary: $110K-$140K Degree: Best is BSCHE, will look at other Engineering Degrees Company has decided to go after a PRODUCTION/OPERATIONS MGR and put them into a Quality Mgr position. So the Company is not actually looking for a Quality Mgr, but a Production Mgr to do Quality…. Basic Description of Job Function: Manage Pasadena Quality function and Programs and oversee and lead Pasadena Quality Team including Clean Lab and Field Lab Essential Functions of the Position: QA/QC Engineering Mgmt (Levels 2 through 6): Develops, implements, and maintains technical quality assurance and control systems and activities. Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of company products. Participates in the reviewing of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations. Assists product support areas in gathering and analyzing data. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Survey Tip: Employees whose primary responsibility is inspection, match to Inspection Mgmt (1601-1605). Level 4: SCOPE: Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers. Senior management reviews objectives to determine success of operation. Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that affect immediate operations(s) and may also have company-wide effect. JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives, as well as an understanding of company “politics.” Implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements. DISCRETION: Erroneous decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations, and may jeopardize overall business activities. INTERACTION: Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship. SUPERVISION: Manages activities of two or more sections or departments through subordinate managers who exercise full supervision in terms of costs, methods, and staffing. In some instances this manager may be responsible for managing staff function and may not have subordinate managers. Organizational Relationships Involved in Position (who is supported, supervised, etc.): Reports to Site Manager. Directly Supervises Supplier Quality Supv., Program Management Coordinator, 1 Quality Engineer., 1 Chief Chemist and Lab Organization. Others in group include 1 Technologist, 2 QC inspectors, 2 Document Control Specialists
Qualifications
Section II – Details of Ideal Candidate: Education desired for ideal candidate: Minimum of BS, preferably in Chemical Engineering or other Engineering Discipline; Masters Degree preferred. Work Experience: What types of work experience are desired for this position and how many years of that experience are necessary to fill this role? 10 to 15 Years experience in Operations/Manufacturing in roles of successively higher degrees of responsibility and complexity in a chemical manufacturing environment with heavy exposure to quality assurance initiatives and analytical tools. Strong process knowledge is critical. What certifications (if any) are desired or useful in this position? Six Sigma Black Belt Certification is a plus.
