Senior Research Associate This person must have a PhD in electrochemistry (someone from Mead-Westvaco would be a consideration). Range is high $70k to $90k+. No bonus with this job. Will pay relocation. Will look at new graduates. Incumbent will serve as technical lead in product development in the area of energy storage using activated carbon. In addition, he/she will support product R&D efforts in other active development areas. Incumbent must be able to rapidly gain understanding of a technology through both internal experts and literature/patent searches, and should subsequently be able to generate new products, processes, and applications. Incumbent will work directly with customers, as needed. Also required is flexibility and cooperation in working in teams and ability to run simultaneous projects at various stages of completion, while dealing with frequent changes in priorities in a fast-pace R&D environment. In each project, incumbent is expected to develop a technical plan, execute the plan with help from lab technicians and other colleagues, maintain a record of the progress in a timely fashion, focusing on project objectives with minimal supervision. Experience in activated carbon is preferred. The position will entail lab work for some projects, and occasional work in a plant setting (3-5 times annually, multiple days per trip) for others. Requirements: 1. Ph.D. in electrochemistry. 2. Experience with the characterization of materials used in electrochemical double layer capacitors. 3. Previous industrial experience is desirable but not required 4. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
